Our Owners
More than 90 percent of our company’s shares are owned by private individuals. The shares are divided into the voting K-series and the so-called preferential A-series. In total, we have around 280 shareholders.
The highest decision-making power in Kaleva Oy is exercised by the annual general meeting, which convenes once a year as stipulated by our regulations. The annual general meeting is held on a date determined by the board of directors within six months of the end of the financial year.
Our Board of Directors
Our board guides and supervises the work of the operational management and our business activities. The board’s operations are based on our shared values, ethical principles, and the requirements of good governance (CG).
The board decides, among other things, on Kaleva Oy’s strategic direction and major investments, and appoints the company’s CEO.
The Board
Our board always includes independent external members, who bring diversity through their areas of expertise. The board meets regularly and works actively together with the management team.

Managing Journalistic Media
Our journalistic media are committed to independence and responsibility. In all matters related to journalism, decision-making power always rests with the editorial teams and must under no circumstances be transferred outside the newsroom — not to group management nor to the board.
We believe in freedom of speech, inclusive discursion, and democracy. Our truth-seeking journalism helps our audiences form an understanding of society and the world. Our journalistic media operate under the Freedom of Expression Act and the Guidelines for Journalists.
